Thanks Giving {52}

October 26, 2012

One full year of thankfulness!!! I know technically my first thankful post was more than a year ago and a few weeks went by without a thankful reflection. Regardless, I think this is worth celebrating. I have really enjoyed reflecting on my week and my life and taking stock of my blessings. I have so many things to be thankful for, but it is easy to get bogged down by all of the little annoyances of every day. Thank you for letting me share my thankfulness with you! If you don’t mind, I think I’ll continue these thankful Friday posts for another year.

This week I am thankful that Timmy and I have been blessed with a baby. It took a little while, and we both worried that maybe we wouldn’t be able to have kids. Then it happened! We were both thrilled, but we had seen so many of our friends go through miscarriages that it was hard (especially for me) to get too excited. Now I am 14 weeks along, just out of the first trimester! At my doctor appointment yesterday I was able to hear the babies heartbeat for the first time (we only saw the heart beating when we had our first ultrasound). It was amazing. My heart and the baby’s were beating at the same time, though obviously baby’s was beating much faster. I am so thankful that Timmy and I get to have this little duckling!

I am thankful for our house. It’s certainly not perfect… Just ask Timmy. But there is plenty of room for family gatherings. We have a guest room. We have closets, an attic and a basement for storage. And, we will have a sweet nursery. What a relief to not have to worry about finding a new house, or figuring out how a nursery will fit in. And I’m fairly confident that even if we do get hit by this hurricane, our house will still be standing at the end. Sometimes it’s the big things that get forgotten, but I love this house, faults and all.

Finally, I am thankful for pictures and cameras! I know not everyone loves pictures, but I do! I love looking back in time at my parents/family when they were younger and wore funny clothes and crazy hair styles. I love seeing my brother and I with Care Bear birthday cakes and Teddy Ruxpin. While cleaning out the nursery I found a bunch of old pictures of Timmy and I that I had collected before our wedding. I cannot get over how adorable Timmy was as a baby/little kid. I’m so happy that we had these memories and moments saved. I’m working on fitting a couple pictures into the nursery, too. I’m also thankful that Timmy gave me such a nice camera for Christmas last year. We are going to be able to capture moments for our kids to laugh at when they get older too.

What are you thankful for this week?

    It’s funny you said house this week, because I was just thinking that I am thankful for my house too. Mainly because it is clean right now and the driveway’s done. Of course we still have the garage doors to replace, and the storm door. Oh, and the bathroom upstairs, and it would be nice to move the washer/dryer upstairs, and…well then, nevermind, I’m thankful for YOUR house too. It always smells like fresh baked something!
