Thanks Giving {51}
First, I am thankful for babies. It is so nice having it out there! I don’t have to wonder if I’m leaving little clues or wait to post baby thoughts. I am also thankful for babies because, as I’ve mentioned before, Michael and Emily (my brother and sister-in-law) are also having a baby. Emily is about 1 month ahead of me, so she can always tell me what’s coming and what it’s like. Yesterday she went in for her 20 week ultra-sound and found out, they’re having a BOY!! So exciting!!! I can’t wait to knit up something blue!
I am also thankful for Timmy this week. He worries about things that never even cross my mind. Like what Batman movie we will show the baby first (I assume he means when he/she gets older…). Do we start with Michael Keaton or skip ahead to Christian Bale? Or do we go all the way back to Adam West?? Of course, he also worries that he’ll be holding the baby laying on the couch, fall asleep, and the baby will fall off. Not all of his concerns are entertainment related, apparently. I guess that’s part of what I hope will make us good parents – we each think so differently that between us we should be able to make good decisions. Hopefully. At the very least I think we can nail down the Batman issue.
Speaking of parents who make good decisions for their kids, I am thankful that mine are coming to visit today. They can only stay for the weekend, but I am so excited to see them! Sometimes it’s tough living far from your mom (and dad) when you’re going to have a baby. At least we see each other pretty regularly. It will be nice just spending time chatting with them.
I am so thankful that I got back to blogging this week! I was actually dreading it a little. It felt like so much work and I am barely able to get everything on my daily “To Do” list done as it is. Ok, it never gets done… I’m an excellent list maker; I’m a mediocre list completer. But I guess that’s part of the reason I like writing this blog: it’s a constant reminder that I’m not perfect, and that is okay. I can’t do everything by myself, as hard as I try, and that’s okay too. Somehow just telling people, even strangers, makes me feel better. So, if you think I’m writing this blog all for you, you’re way off. Not only does it provide a far from needed ego-boost through your kind comments, but it helps me stay humble and do a lot of self-reflection that would otherwise be avoided. While I certainly hope you enjoy it, I’m not totally selfless in my motivation. So thank you.

You’ve got to first go back to Adam West. There was just the one movie, assuming your not going to subject him (or possibly her) to all the episodes. It was how it all started for Timmy.
You can definitely skip the George Clooney one. It was terrible!
I’m thankful it is Friday! I am also thankful for having the best brother & sister-in-law. You guys are so cute with your concerns for the baby! My vote is Adam West, Michael Keaton (1) then Christian Bale movies. You can totally skip the other batmans! The real questions is…. what disney movie are you going to show first?! There are so many good ones!
Ahhh, Disney movies! Yes……how about Snow White? Plenty to love there by boys and girls!
Babies are exciting and contratulatioins to you guys! And, yes it is hard when your parents are not close — As you know I am experiencing the same thing as your parents — Ashley is in North Carolina and I am here in Bethlehem. It is very hard, especially since she is my only child!! We talk almost every day and she keeps me updated. I make her send me baby bump pictures every week too!! As far as Batman movies, I think you should start with the Disney movies — Dumbo was Ashley’s favorite as a child — we watched it every day for what seems like forever — and she cried every time too.
I think we’ll probably start with the Adam West Batman, just because it’s more appropriate for a younger duckling, then Michael Keaton, etc. Skipping George Clooney is a-okay with me, I might have a hard time just sitting through it… Then when the duck is older he/she can check out the Christian Bale series, which is really like saving the best for last.
Oh man, Disney movies!! My top three favorites are Aladdin, Cinderella, and Robing Hood so we will definitely have those in the house. I do NOT like Bambi, so that’s out for sure. I imagine the duckling will have to see Mulan at some point too. Maybe Aunt Patty or Peaches will share that one with him/her…
