Tricia’s Wedding DIYs

August 11, 2012

I know why they call it DIY, but sometimes I really think it should be called DIWHFF/F – Do It With Help From Friends/Family. Less catchy, I know, but often more accurate. As is the case with my sister-in-law Tricia and her wedding DIYs. And we loved being a part of making her wedding special!

Tricia had some pretty big ideas for her wedding – one of which was to make homemade sugar cookies with something resembling the Philadelphia LOVE statue on top. This would have been no problem at all if she had, say 20 guests… Since she had closer to 275 guests this took a small army and the near sacrifice of the mother-of-the-bride’s sanity. But boy were they cute sitting at each place setting!! Here are some pictures I managed to gather because, again I didn’t use my camera… (Sometimes I think I just lug it around for the workout…)

Tricia also thought it would be fun to name each table after a neighborhood in Philadelphia. And how cute if we took a picture of her and Adam (her now husband) at each spot! I volunteered my camera (see, I use it!) and we spent a full day driving from place to place, tempting cars to hit us, and generally disregarding other people/cars in our way. With such a good looking couple it was easy to make this DIY project a success! I added the names and numbers and Tricia popped the pictures in silver 5×7 frames. A fun, personal touch for each table! Here are a few samples from our photo shoot.

Finally ( I think), Tricia made her cake toppers. She painted little wooden dolls, added a veil and some personality and they were ready to greet the cake gawkers. They were completely adorable! Of course, I can’t show them to you because, as previously noted, I didn’t take any pictures… I know, I suck. I will be sure to update you when I see some more pictures.I can’t wait to see all the millions of pictures the wedding photographer took! Especially since I don’t think there is a single picture of Timmy and I… He looked so handsome in his tux!

Is it weird that my posts usually somehow end up being about Timmy? Haha… The real point of this post is to say, look at the fun DIY things Tricia came up with to add personal touches to her wedding. And if you think it’s too much work for your wedding, just gather your friends and family and it will be more fun than work. And Timmy was made to wear tuxes, whoops! I just can’t help it…

I loved all of the personal touches at the wedding! The cookies were delicious as well as beautiful. I’d love to see all of the table pictures. We were at #5 the Museum District. That must have taken a long time to do. Anyway, we loved the wedding and had such a fantastic time. Thanks to MaryKay and Tim!

I agree, the cookies were adorable! I would love to see a copy of your toast too. It was sooo good. I want to see all the table pictures, if possible. Where do we send our pictures?

The cookies were delicious. I ate two for breakfast the next morning just to extend the wedding spirit a few more hours.
