T(-shirt yarn) Time!

June 19, 2012

I’ve been saving some of Timmy’s old white undershirts, thinking I’d be able to use them for something at some point. You have to have a slight case of hoarding if you’re going to be a crafter. I save bottles, jars, random packaging items… It’s a problem. But, in the case of Timmy’s old undershirts, it’s a good problem! There are a bunch of cool things you can do with t-shirt yarn and it takes about 5 minutes to make. You don’t have to know how to knit or crochet either. Check out some cool projects I’ve found around the internets:

Here’s how I made my t-shirt yarn:

For an excellent video tutorial, check out Releve Designs. I’m not generally a video tutorial person, but this is clear, brief and so simple that you can watch it once and then go do it without needing to rewind, and watch parts again and again.

I haven’t decided whether I want to dye my t-shirt yarn or leave it white. It will probably become a giant doily rug for our new closet space, so I might leave it white… It will be a surprise when I show you my finished product. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to work on that soon! Do you think you’ll try it? What will you make?
