A Shawl for Twilight

June 11, 2012

Wow, that was fast! This little shawl was a quick knit. I finished it in time to take it with me the the wedding a couple weekends ago. Amazingly, it matched my dress pretty well, and it was exactly what I needed at the end of the night. I got this yarn while shopping with MaryKay, my mother-in-law, at one of our local yarn shops, Conversational Threads. It is Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light and the color is black velvet. Madelinetosh creates some of the most beautiful colors I have ever seen. I have two skeins of Madelinetosh Sport in the color “ink” just dying to be knit into something wonderful…

The pattern is called Simmer Dim, which apparently means twilight in some unspecified language… It is written by Gudrun Johnston of The Shetland Trader. I love her. Her patterns are simple, interesting and really well written. She manages to write patterns that are interesting without being so complicated I need to look at them every 10 stitches. This shawl will definitely get some use!

For more details on this pattern, check it out on Ravelry. While you’re there you can check out my project too!
